Wario Land: Shake It Preview
I’m sure many were scared like I was when they seen the word shake in the title of Wario’s first dedicated adventure on the Wii. Fans are anxiously waiting for another great Wii title, and seeing shake in the title had me uneasy. Well, cast that fear aside, because this new platformer is played out the traditional Wario way, which is to collect as much money as possible. Wario Land: Shake it is shaping up to be quite a game, and fully capable of the Wario Land name.
Wario sets out searching various continents in search of none other than gold. While adventuring, Wario finds out that Queen Merelda has been kidnapped by the notorious pirate leader, the Shake King. Who are these new characters, and why does the selfish Wario even care about these characters? Whatever the reason, Wario needs to rescue the Queen. Maybe it has to do with a Bottomless Coin Sack, which is a sack where the coins never end.
The Wii Remote is held sideways (ala Super Paper Mario) which gives it that retro feel. You shake the remote to activate Wario’s special moves. If you shake the remote while Wario is on the ground, it unleashes his special ‘ground punch’ that will stun all enemies on the screen. It’s also incorporated to figure out puzzles that grant you access to different areas within the stage. While holding an enemy or a bag of money, you can shake it to harm the enemy or shake the coins out. Various vehicles are throughout the game, where you tilt the controller to guide them.

What do you do with all the hard-earned coins; well spend them at the Pirate Shop. Exciting items are offered for your purchase including videos and maps. The game features five different action-paced maps for you to explore, including over 20 different stages. Wario Land: Shake It has a release date of September 29, so be there first to collect all the treasure.
