Sonic Unleashed Review

  by Ben

Sonic is back and his new game is sure to make fanboys be able to look themselves in the mirror again. During the day you will run around at high speed, drift around sharp turns, and dash through enemies with the sonic boost.

During the night a there is a different gameplay style. As sonic the werehog you will swing across gaps, climb up poles, and beat up baddies. You will gain a bunch of different combos and as the werehog you can go into unleashed form, which will allow you to do different combos and will raise your attack power.

The main problem with this game is that you play more as the werehog then you do as Sonic. As the werehog you will go through about 3 distinct different levels per continent, but as sonic you only go through one level, and do about 2 missions on that level instead of doing three different levels.

The graphics are amazing on the Wii, and you will probably find yourself looking at the scenery every now and then instead of paying attention to the game. The game’s soundtrack is very good but not the best, the Spagonia level song is still stuck in my head, as well as Endless Possibilities.

This game has a ton of replay value even though the main is only about 20 hours long. However if you do everything in the game it can easily equal 30-40 hours. There are many hidden items through the levels and you will need to get S ranks on all the levels in order to collect every moon and sun medal. So I highly recommend Sonic Unleashed, and if you’re not sure if you want to buy it, definitely rent it.
