Who would you rather pick a fight with?  Batman or Superman?  Now think carefully, because as we all know Superman is the stronger of the two but he’s definitely weaker emotionally.  This fatal flaw of his characteristic has been exploited by just about everyone of Superman’s foes.  So I reckon if you’d get in a fight with him, you’d take a few minor hits (because a full blown one could kill you), then he’d drop you off in the nearest cell where you’d recover.

           Now Batman, a “hero” unlike any other that seeks out villainous humans and puts the fear of God into them (anyone see The Dark Knight where he broke a guy’s legs by dropping him from a few stories).  You can be sure that Batman would show very little mercy.  After all, if he cripples you that’s one less criminal to walk (literally) the streets spreading terror throughout Gotham.  Simply doing his job.  Now I ask you  again, who would you rather pick a fight with?  Don’t fancy hypothesizing, well soon you won’t have to.

          Sony Online Entertainment LLC in collaboration with DC Comics and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment brings us (literally as close as possible) into a universe of heroes and villains.  DC Universe Online, a new action-packed MMO optimized for the PC and (hopefully) PS3.  With over 70 years of history and around 4,000 heroical and villainous characters this world will surely be an experience comic enthusiasts would have only dreamed of before.

          The universe of DC has been altered and suddenly a horde of new heroes and villains are seeking to make their impact on the universe journeying through the famous locations of the DC universe such as Metropolis and Gotham.  Play as one of these new characters customizing them how you see fit to become the perfect hero or most devious villain.  You’ll also get the chance to wield super human abilities and powers to make your new character a force to be reckoned with.  The state-of-the-art physics engine allows your character to use the fantastically intense 3D world environment as a weapon to cripple your foes.

          The standard features of MMO’s such as questing and raids will be included in this new fast-paced action game, however, how well you perform effects the amount of experience points you gain, so leveling up in this universe may be a challenging task.

          Although this new game may seem like another hard-core gamers fantasy, this MMO has been designed so that casual gamers can also play it whenever they choose.  There are elements to this MMO where a player can log in for 20 minutes, start a fight, win an item and then log off.  This new approach to target a larger audience as well as the core gamers is definitely a controversial approach.  I can understand they want to attract a wider audience, but surely they want to target the players that will devote a large amount of time to the game?  In the end it will be those gamers paying for the continual subscription service.  Let’s hope that this team’s got the balance right especially as Star Wars Galaxies failed to deliver truly awe-inspiring experience to multitude of Star Wars fans.  

          I recommend that everyone should try out this MMO, whether casual or core; male or female; old or young.

          Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Joker, Lex Luthor, Poison Ivy.  Whether you choose to help or hinder this vast amount of DC characters is up to you.
