LEGO Batman: The Videogame Preview
The newest game in the LEGO (insert character here) series is just around the bend with the all new, Lucas free, LEGO Batman: The Videogame (and I can’t freakin’ wait). It is being released on all home consoles, handhelds, as well as PC.
LEGO Batman will feature an all new story line pitting Batman, Robin, and as a special guest Nightwing, against the greatest of Gotham City's criminals including: The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Killer Croc, The Riddler, Mr. Freeze (It’s time to kick some ice) , Harley Quinn, Two Face, Bane, Clayface, Poison Ivy, with more to be announced. Apparently, everything you fight will be a boss because that’s just about every Batman villain I can think of.
LEGO Batman will not just feature Batman and Robin's story either. The game also allows you to play as the villains, giving you their point of view with classic LEGO series physical humor. Playing as the villains will bring all new objectives, a heap of high-tech suits, gadgets and vehicles letting players be evil like never before, with blocks.
This new take on batman will bring you great action in the most recognizable locations in Gotham City. You will be able to see these areas in the classic Batmobile, the lustrous Batboat, and as featured in Tim Burton’s 1989 film, the Batwing. (mmm, Batwing.)
Just like in other LEGO games, you will be able to go into Freeplay Mode which permits you to play as any of the unlocked characters in any level giving you more abilities to find secret areas and unlock bonus content such as: bonus power-ups and new levels altogether.
As expected, there will be no voice-over work for the characters, but the game will be using yet another item from the 1989 film, Danny Elfman’s magnificent musical score. You know Danny Elfman from The Simpsons and The Nightmare Before Christmas. (If there is a better composer please step forward.)
Batman’s LEGO debut will have many things we have come to love from the LEGO games, so if you’re a fan of said type of game, pick it up when it hits shelves September 23, 2008. That's right just one week until you can get your greasy little hands all over it.
