Bioshock 2 Review
Bioshock 2 Review.
A sequel to the game of the year 2007 Bioshock, Bioshock 2 has a hefty reputation a fulfill, luckily it does stand up to this and very well, this game is not only better than it predecessor it is also more scary, more exciting and more indulging.
In this game you are a Big Daddy, basically a man in a diving suit, except you have all kinds of powers at your disposal, like shock and infernal. This game is set in 1968, 8 years after the events of Bioshock 1, you are back in Rapture, and underwater city, Through a series of audio tapes and flashbacks you realize that the player character called Subject Delta, the first Big Daddy created was forced to commit suicide by Sofia Lamb in 1958, she does this so that you cant stop her as she wants to take over Rapture by mind washing. You find out that Eleanor is still alive which is your daughter because Lamb takes her away from you, and you are determined to save her no matter what the cost, this will take you through a brilliant story full of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes.
The combat is similar to the first game, except instead of just having a weapon out then switching to you plasmid, you can now have a weapon and a plasmid at the same time, this makes the combat very fun and it never gets boring electrocuting water when five splicers are in it. Splicers are the bad guys in the game, a lot of them are crazy, and they all vary from the normal splicer with a wrench, to a splicer with plasmids like yours.

There is money in the game and there is Adam which is the most important thing in Rapture, to get Adam you have to either save or harvest little sisters, but in order to do this you have to kill the Big Daddy protecting them. If you decide to kill the little sister for more Adam then you will get a different ending at the end of the game, After this you can spend the Adam on things like upgrading your plasmids and other things like that. You can also get money, with which you can buy ammo, health ect. Through out the game there are upgrade machines where you can upgrade your weapons. Because of all the splicers walking round the security is very high, this means security bots and big turret guns, this is handy because you can hack them to work for you.
You can get things called tonics, tonics are genetic-reencoding liquids that grant you special ability's like better hacking and more strength. Most of the weapons you collect are those previously seen Big Daddy's carry in the first game, including a powerful drill and a rivet gun. You can now melee with your gun as a secondary attack at close range. It annoyed me that even though your meant to be really tough, the best of the best your health meter goes down really quickly, when you die you get revived in a vita chamber.
As you play through the game you encounter Big Sisters, these are stronger than you, this makes good use of the versatility of killing your enemies, you can freeze them the explode them into pieces with a spear gun, fun times.

In multiplayer there are seven modes to play on, survival of the fittest, civil war, last splicer standing, capture the sister, Adam grab, team Adam grab, turf war. Its no modern warfare, but the modes are basically the same as on there, this multiplayer will keep you occupied for a while but i find that after two or three games online i just got bored. In these mode you get the chance to become a Big Daddy and kill everyone as they are much weaker than you. This suit will come up in every game type except Capture the Sister, Adam or Team Adam Grab and Last Splicer Standing.
There are a few Dlc's out and coming out so when you finish the story there will be more to do, or you could just wait until the next one.
I think that this game accedes the expectations of the critics, people expected a lot from this game because the first one was so good, and the people were pleasantly surprised.
