Dead Space Review
I am that kind of gamer that enjoys every type of game, so dead space is a special game to me as it falls into so many category's, Horror, Action adventure, third person shooter. I prefer to look more towards its horror side of things as the story does it great justice on this.
You take the role of an engineer called Issac Clarke in the year 2414, a planet cracking star ship sends out a distress signal to Concordance Extraction Corporation (CEC) whilst they were mining on the planet Aegis VII. The CEC send your ship, the USG Kellion to check it out, as they attempt to dock using auto-dock the system malfunctions and you crash inside the Ishimura.Your crew decide to explore the ship to find new transport, as they look around they see that Ishimura's crew are all dead. The ship is full of grotesque monsters called necromorphs from the planet below, you are tasked with keeping the ship stable long enough to be rescued.

The actual gameplay is very different to most other games, the camera is in third person so the HUD is basically on your suit, you health bar is on your back as a little meter. it is handy because you can use med kits just by pressing x so you don't have to go into the menu, which is just as well as the menu doesn't actually pause the game, it comes up as a hologram which is a nice feature and shows how it is in the future. Though there are a ton of lovely ligament ripping guns you can choose to do melee combat to conserve your ammo, this is basically just punching and stomping nothing special really.
It is always fun to stomp a necromorphs arms and legs of.
I found quite a lot in the game that i ran out of ammo for the gun i was using so its not best to pick a favorite and only use that.
Because of Issac's engineering background most of the weapons you use are mining tools, such as the plasma cutter and the rotary saw, this is especially good for tacking limbs of as you shoot a rotating saw then get to control the floating saw with the right analogue stick. you do get a few military guns such as the automatic rifle, all of the weapons have to modes of firing. this is like with the plasma cutter it can rotate 90 degrees for more precise dismemberment. Most of the time you will find your self scavenging for ammo as you will spend most of you money at the shops on armor upgrades and new weapons. Of course what makes every game better, an upgrade system and dead space has one that works very well in game, you can upgrade with things called nodes on a work bench which are scattered around the missions, you can do this on your guns and your suit, with your guns you can upgrade how much ammo you can hold, speed of reload and more. At the stores you can also sell items you find and store items such as guns as you can only hold four.
You have a thing called stasis, which is where you can slow down an enemy which can be very useful when you are being over run,
this is also good as most of your enemy's will not die if you simply shoot their head of, you must dismember their limbs until they die. I found a few times that after i think i have killed one of them i suddenly gets up and starts to attack me again. This makes the game very immersive with the brilliantly plotted story tied in with the amazing combat, anyone that is a fan of horror survival games should give this a try.

One of my favorite ideas for the game was the zero gravity sections in the missions, it was always fun to see body parts floating of as you just put a round of your assault rifle into an alien. Dead spaces music is award winning and the voice acting is good although Issac never speaks and you never see his face which i didn't like, they could of done something about that.
Other then that i think this game is brilliant well worthy of all of the awards it got.
